About Kenya Institute of Management
The Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) is the Premier Leadership and Management training organization in the Eastern and Central African region. Founded in 1954 as a nonprofit making membership establishment to prepare leaders for the soon to be independent East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, KIM has trained thousands of top managers in the region and beyond. It has recently been ranked among the foremost business and leadership training institutions in the world, and only one of nine such organizations in Africa to make it to the prestigious Webmetrics List. Over the past ten years, KIM has made an indelible mark in promoting excellence and integrity in management through the respected KIM Company of the Year Awards (COYA). The awards recognize and reward firms that embrace and apply the best leadership and management practices. As part of its service to its members, KIM organizes monthly lectures in sixteen different parts of Kenya, where it has active branches. It also organizes regular luncheons and the distinguished Tom Mboya Annual Lecture, where prominent leaders, academicians and business people have in the past addressed diverse topics of public and leadership interest, especially to the business community. KIM’s other activities are carried out through the KIM School of Management (which is in the process of becoming a university), the KIM Centre for Enterprise Development, the KIM International Centre for Leadership and Development, the KIM Centre for Management Development and the KIM Centre for Research and Policy Analysis.
